Venus in Pisces: Time to let our hearts guide the way

This week starts off with Mars applying to Saturn in the sign of Aquarius.

Mars, planet of drive, action, anger, survival, sex drive, instinct, and aggression blending with Saturn, the keeper of time, the teacher, planet of boundaries, restriction, discipline, karma, hard work, and structure come elicit some heavy emotions.

Saturn tends to be hard on us, making sure we do things properly and effectively, Mars on the other hand doesn’t like to waste time and wants to get things done as quickly as possible. Meeting in the sign of future-minded Aquarius can stir up some anxieties over where you feel you should be in terms of your progress vs where you are.

Coming off of the New Moon in Aries and Mercury cazimi applying to Chiron, this is a time to step into your healing in a way you’ve been avoiding. You can’t hide from yourself anymore. If you want to move forward we have to address the things we haven’t been dealing with.

This New Moon led me to the idea that triggers exist as echoes of trauma.

The idea is that over time we can learn how to react differently to these triggers and the echoes become less powerful. Triggers reflect pieces of ourselves or our experiences that are not easy to be objective with. I always think when someone is bothering me that there is something about their behavior that I subconsciously perform myself, in order to identify what about it exactly is triggering me.

It’s easier to be upset with it when it’s occurring outside of you, it’s much more challenging to ask yourself what you’re doing to perpetuate a toxic cycle.

In my specific experience, I often find myself feeling “misunderstood” so I try to extend more understanding when I’m feeling angry or upset (this does not always happen in the moment). I try to identify if I caused the same emotional reaction I experienced in others to see where I can hold myself accountable.

I extend compassion to myself when I am reacting more to circumstances I’ve been in previously vs the current situation at hand. This can be challenging when we are working from instinct or intuition when your experience is colored through the lens of pain you’ve already experienced. It isn’t easy for everyone to see this or even say that their experience has been colored by trauma. To most people, that’s just “life”.

To those who are willing to say it and see, now have a chance to transmute pain into catharsis. This is a time to reexamine our hurt and approach it like an old foe who you’d like to give a chance to change. Learn to approach your wounds as something outside of you that you have been carrying. Forgiveness is possible without ever involving another person and it all starts with letting go and ends with moving forward.

Aries season is the time to advocate for ourselves.

We are encouraged to take steps centered around the betterment of self. We may need to apply sheer force of will to cultivate discipline this week with Mars applying to Saturn. We may encounter obstacles that force us to pick ourselves back up or frustration around reality not aligning with our expectations.

This is a time that may require us to stop, rework and try again in a different way. To get where we want to be right now we are being asked to not back down from a challenge. You can bulldoze through if you must but there’s no shame in taking your time, resting, and recovering along the way.

This can be a turning point in which a new approach is applied to a long-term objective. Take time to examine your goals in the bigger picture and find action to ground them in your day-to-day. This can be a powerful transit for manifesting discipline around action but only with the right frame of mind.

Every part of the journey is meaningful, especially moments of stillness and rest.

When Venus slides into Pisces on April 5th, we can feel this more fully as Venus is finally free of Saturn’s clutches.

Venus’ journey since November has led her through Saturn-ruled Capricorn, where she retrograded between December 18th through January 29th. During this time, Mars caught up to her as they moved together through Capricorn and Aquarius, conjoining several times along the way.

Aquarius has been hosting planetary ruler Saturn since December 17th, 2020. During these past few weeks, Venus and Mars each have conjoined Saturn- adding an element of restriction to otherwise forward-thinking planetary transits.

Now Venus can finally breathe and enjoy herself, at least for a moment. Venus loves being in Pisces! She is exalted in this position meaning she can perform her function optimally as Pisces loves love.

Pisces energy is dreamy, romantic, and idealistic bordering on delusional at times. We may seek pleasure during this transit by following our feelings or acknowledging the magic that exists all around us through our mundane experiences. Venus is exuberant and hopeful in Pisces, it's time to fall in love with love again!

We may have experienced a lot of hardship when Venus was traveling through Capricorn and Aquarius. She wasn’t set up for success which may leave us feeling apprehensive over what's to come. Pisces embodies many things as water energy takes on the shape of whatever it is poured into. It's time to allow ourselves to feel excited about love and the many ways it exists in our lives.

In ancient Greece, there were eight words for love each describing a different form that exists in our lives: Eros, passionate and sexual love; Philia, the affectionate love that exists within friendship; Ludus, playful or flirtatious love; Storge, familial love; Mania, obsessive, co-dependent love; Pragma, long-standing and enduring love; Agape, selfless love or love of humanity; and Philautia, self-love.

When Venus is roaming through Pisces we have the opportunity to experience all of this and more! Pisces has the emotional range and this transit will certainly allow our emotions to pull on our heartstrings. The upside to this is that there is much more ease in coming together, creating better understanding, and finding forgiveness.

This is the world in technicolor after waking up in Oz! Everything seems bright, new, and exciting as Venus invites in the good vibes. We are no longer restricted, Pisces is boundlessly creative and seeks to bring joy into the world around them. We may find little miracles along the way so long as we keep our hearts open!
