Scorpio season plunges us into the depths of Autumn. The brightly colored leaves brought to us during Libras Sun begin the process of decay, turning brown before withering away. The fixed water sign has a deeply transformative quality that is impossible to ignore. Scorpio season is here, ready to remove any and all stagnant energy. Scorpio energy is enriched with the knowledge that what decays in the fall nourishes the fruit of the coming spring (during Taurus season respectively).
From October 23rd until November 22nd, the Sun carries out a mission of growth, regeneration, and alchemy.
This time of year is noticeably darker for longer, which causes the stars to appear brighter. Scorpio is the largest of the twelve constellations composed of bright and giant stars. The Scorpion is veiled in mystery, concerned with secrecy and all things taboo. Scorpios are not the type of people to sit around and make superficial small talk or disclose any personal details preferring to discuss deeper psychological beliefs or broader intellectual concepts. Sex, death, and rebirth are three of the biggest themes associated with the sign. All are rooted in the larger theme of deep transformational change.
Fixed energy tends to rebuke change but Scorpio facilitates regeneration as a means of expansion.

Scorpio season is an excellent time to release harmful habits and rechannel that energy into a greater good like creative expression. Our intuition is heightened under the influence of water energy. Water is the universal solvent, collecting and absorbing anything that it comes into contact with. We may notice higher energetic sensitivity within ourselves under the Scorpio sun. For this reason, Scorpio season is an excellent time to build strong boundaries or create energetic clearing practices. During Scorpio season it is important to understand the power of drawing the line.
The Scorpion is known for its tough exterior and highly protective nature. Anything that lies close to its heart is worth fighting for. Scorpio is ruled by Mars, planet of action, war, aggression, and sex drive.
Mars gifts the scorpion with a certain magnetism and illustrious charm to draw people in or influence situations to their liking. Their willpower is palpable and at times they can be unrelenting. This is not a sign you want to make an enemy of, they are willing to play the long game for the sake of revenge.
The waters of Scorpio are dark, deep, and mysterious. This Scorpio season starts with an extra dash of depth, darkness, and mystery kicking off with a solar eclipse in the sign of Scorpio and Venus entering Scorpio alongside the Sun.
This can feel like a moment where we are inspired to burn it all down in order to start anew.

Eclipses occur when the sun and the moon’s elliptical orbits meet along the same axis, eclipsing one another from our point of view. Where the cosmos collide we find the North and South Nodes of fate and destiny. The North Node is a conscious tie to the future whereas the South Node represents the unconscious ties to the past. During an eclipse, past and future energies conjoin in the present moment leaving us feeling rather unstable. Eclipses signify lasting changes that occur suddenly as an act of fate.
A solar eclipse in Scorpio can unearth some pretty intense feelings, especially around control or the desire to overexert our will. Scorpio's desire can be energetically felt and under the influence of the Sun, Moon, and Venus all meeting in the early degrees of the sign can leave us projecting our own desires and unwilling to yield to another objective reality.
However, eclipse energy is unpredictable, the period between the solar eclipse in Scorpio on October 25th and the lunar eclipse in Taurus on November 8th will be energetically high. This may leave us feeling a bit disoriented, time may feel a bit liquid- both fast and slow, or we may find ourselves energetically frazzled with difficulty centering ourselves. It is important despite this to try our best to remain grounded!
During this period we can only expect the unexpected and that whatever happens now may have a domino effect that will circle back around again under the final set of eclipses taking place along the Taurus: Scorpio axis in the spring of 2023. Dreams are incredibly significant at this time, though they may seem a bit stranger than usual.

While a solar eclipse is a new moon occurring under the darkest night, a lunar eclipse is an intensified and hidden full moon. New moons are new beginnings, in Scorpio, we acknowledge that every new beginning is found at another beginning’s end. We may be presented with challenges that force us to act in new ways and are encouraged to remain flexible in the face of finding something other than what we wanted. Eclipse energy is unpredictable, and more often than not forces us to surrender to our circumstances.
Scorpio has a tendency to obsess and hold on to things too tightly. We may find ourselves tested with doors closing or sudden endings. Rest assured that this is to make space for something better than you imagined to propagate. Resistance to change is unadvisable under eclipse energy- especially the upcoming lunar eclipse on November 8th.
This eclipse is taking place at 16º with the moon conjoining Uranus, the planet of innovation, sudden change, and disruption. The Taurus: Scorpio axis can present lessons of stability, security, self-sufficiency, self-worth, imbalance in hierarchies of power, uncomfortable truth, or animalistic desires. Full Moons tend to be rather revealing and clear any obstacles leading to your next blessing.
Any loss under this energy is meant to be met with gratitude rather than grief. Our course is simply being redirected.
With the Moon and Uranus in Taurus sitting opposite the Scorpio Sun alongside Mercury and Venus, we can expect exposure and change around communication, mindset, relationships, self-worth, or self-expression. This is a time to call back your power and release any self-sabotaging tendencies.
This year Scorpio season is a reckoning of our anger, aggression, action, courage, competitive nature, motivation, and sexuality. Due to Scorpio’s traditional ruler Mars being retrograde from October 30th until January 12th, 2023. Mars has been in Gemini since August 20th and began slowing down around the shadow period on September 3rd. During this time all Martian areas of our lives are up for review.
Mars retrograde is a time to be strategic.

Mars rules over war, which can only be won through careful planning and calculated action. Retrogrades are opportunities to retrace our steps and rework our mistakes. When we slow down we can carefully plan our next steps to ensure greater success. Taking place in Gemini, this transit may present a similar energy to Mercury retrograde with ghosts from the past resurfacing or reconnecting with old friends or coworkers.
Mars retrograde may show up in our lives as lessons around how we identify and work with our anger. Rage can be a tool to drive our achievements or a weapon to destroy our ambitions. There is a great potential for reward if we are able to alchemize our anger. This is a time to mind our own business and try to remain focused. It can be difficult as Mars does lend us vitality and in retrograde we may have to work twice as hard to achieve the same results.
Rest and recovery may take more time than we expect while Mars is retrograde but it is necessary to acknowledge our limits! Under this transit, we may feel our limitations pushed. We may also notice a need to create personal limitations for ourselves.
As Gemini is Mercury ruled this is not a good time to engage in gossiping or shit-talking! Especially with such a heavy Scorpio influence in the cosmos. Scorpio is known to get to the bottom of it all and expose everything. If you find yourself in a position where others are running their mouths recklessly, channel your inner Scorpio by shutting up, listening, and observing! Words can be weapons where Mars in Gemini is concerned.
This transit will continue on for the remainder of the year, forming a square to Jupiter, planet of expansion, abundance, and higher-mindedness, as well as Neptune, planet of transcendence, illusions, and dreams both sitting in late degrees of Pisces. We can anticipate people hearing things we didn’t intend them to hear, drama, miscommunication, reminders of the past, or messages coming to us through dreams, songs, or signs.

Scorpio season reminds us to embrace our darkness, shed our skin, and break down in order to build back up, all while making space for vulnerability. We may feel the urge to engage in emotional avoidance by shutting down or numbing ourselves from feeling but it is extremely important to use this time to conquer any and all fear of the unknown. It is okay to trust that the world isn’t always out to get you. It’s okay to believe that things will work out, even if at the moment it’s hard to see how that could be.
Water energy carries the essence of our emotions, which are powerful drivers of inspiration in us all. The power of belief carries so much weight under the Scorpio Sun. It is said during this time that the “veil is thin” due to Scorpio’s connection to the underworld through its modern planetary ruler, Pluto. Spirit delivers messages unto us through our subconscious mind, especially with Mercury the messenger cruising alongside the Sun from October 29th through November 17th.
Under the intense Scorpio influence, it can be difficult to not let ourselves collapse under the weight of our emotional energy. With daylight savings approaching it becomes that much more difficult to not give into sorrow or isolate ourselves. This is the beginning of the end as we have reached the final quarter of the year. We have to work harder in order to self-motivate here and find the silver lining in the cold and dark winter ahead.
Scorpio season allows us to feel the softest and most tender parts of our hearts while encouraging us to boss up and go further than we ever thought to be possible. Under the pressure of the Scorpio Sun, Mercury, and Venus we can build mental and emotional fortitude in order to become the most powerful version of ourselves yet.
